Common questions

Do I need prior experience to enrol?

No. The program is designed for both people entering building management for the first time and experienced managers who want formal certification and a deeper understanding of their legal obligations.

How long do I have to complete the program?

The program is self-paced. You have ongoing access to all modules, and the live weekly Q&A continues throughout your enrolment period.

What if I miss a Wednesday Q&A session?

Sessions run every Wednesday — you can attend any week during your enrolment. Bring questions whenever works for you.

Is this recognized by employers?

The CPBM designation is awarded by the Canadian Building Manager Institute and verifiable via a digital credential link. Property management companies in BC and Alberta increasingly require or prefer certified candidates.

Does the program cover both BC and Alberta?

Yes. Modules 2, 3, 4, and 9 specifically cover both BC and Alberta legislation side by side, so the training is relevant whether you work in Vancouver, Burnaby, Calgary, or Edmonton.
