Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms carefully before enrolling in the CPBM — Certified Professional Building Manager program.

1. About This Agreement

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your enrolment in and access to the CPBM — Certified Professional Building Manager program offered by the Canadian Building Manager Institute (CBMI), operating in British Columbia, Canada.

By completing your enrolment and submitting payment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree, do not proceed with enrolment.

2. What Is the CPBM Designation?

The CPBM (Certified Professional Building Manager) is a professional designation awarded by the Canadian Building Manager Institute upon successful completion of all 10 course modules and a passing score on the final examination. To receive the designation, students must achieve a minimum grade of 70% on the final exam. It recognizes that the holder has demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of building management practices, BC and Alberta tenancy law, tenant relations, building systems, financial administration, health and safety, and accessibility compliance.

The CPBM designation is awarded exclusively by CBMI and is specific to the Canadian market, with a focus on British Columbia and Alberta legislation and practice.

3. Enrolment & Access

Upon receipt of full tuition payment, you will be granted access to the CPBM program through our online learning platform. Access includes:

Access to course materials is granted to the registered individual only and is non-transferable.

4. Tuition & Fees

Tuition is payable in full at the time of enrolment unless a corporate or group payment arrangement has been confirmed in writing by CBMI. All fees are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD). Current pricing is as posted on the Enrolment page and is subject to change without notice for future enrolments.

⚠ No Refund Policy

All tuition fees are non-refundable once payment has been processed and access to the course has been granted.

By submitting payment and accessing the course platform, you acknowledge and agree that no refund, partial refund, credit, or transfer will be issued under any circumstances, including but not limited to: change of mind, personal circumstances, failure to complete the program, dissatisfaction with content, technical difficulties on the student's end, or employment changes.

5. Program Completion & Certification

To receive the CPBM designation and certificate, students must complete all 10 modules of the program and achieve a minimum passing grade of 70% on the final examination. Students who do not achieve 70% on their first attempt may request one re-examination at no additional charge within 60 days of their initial attempt. Additional re-examination attempts beyond the first may be subject to an administrative fee determined by CBMI at that time. CBMI reserves the right to determine all completion and examination standards. Certificates are issued in the name of the registered student only and may not be altered or reproduced.

6. Code of Conduct

Students are expected to engage respectfully in all live Q&A sessions and communications with CBMI staff and instructors. CBMI reserves the right to remove any student from the program without refund for conduct that is abusive, disruptive, or violates these Terms.

7. Intellectual Property

All course materials, content, videos, guides, templates, and resources provided through the CPBM program are the exclusive intellectual property of the Canadian Building Manager Institute. You may not reproduce, distribute, resell, share, or publish any course materials in any form without the prior written consent of CBMI.

8. Limitation of Liability

The CPBM program is provided for educational purposes. CBMI makes no guarantee of employment, income, or specific outcomes upon completion. While every effort is made to ensure course content is current and accurate, CBMI is not liable for decisions made by students based on program content. Students are responsible for verifying the applicability of any legal or regulatory information to their specific situation.

9. Privacy

CBMI collects personal information solely for the purposes of administering your enrolment, issuing your certificate, and communicating program updates. Your information will not be sold or shared with third parties without your consent, except as required by law. By enrolling, you consent to receiving program-related communications from CBMI.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.

11. Changes to These Terms

CBMI reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the program following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
